Seminar “EVFTA: 5 years of implementation and beyond” & Meet and Greet Session

In collaboration with the Embassy of Vietnam in Belgium, BVA cordially invites you to the seminar “EVFTA: Five Years of Implementation and Beyond,” followed by a Meet & Greet session on 6th June 2025.

The first half of 2025 is highlighted by the successful state visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Belgium to Vietnam and the fifth anniversary of the EVFTA, both underline the deepening partnership between Vietnam and the EU. Over the past five years, the EVFTA has brought significant benefits, notably a substantial increase in Vietnamese exports to the EU, particularly in textiles, footwear and agro-fishery products. Belgium’s export to Vietnam with major sections are chemicals, machinery & equipment and precious metals & stones. Further opportunities await business as the tariffs for different sections will be lifted in the upcoming years. The agreement has also fostered a more transparent business environment, attracting high-quality foreign direct investment (FDI) from the EU, especially in high-tech and sustainable development sectors. However, challenges are still present, including uneven enforcement capacities among ministries and localities, and difficulties in adjusting the legal framework to meet new requirements.

This seminar will convene representatives from Vietnamese ministries and various local authorities, EU institutions, businesses, associations and experts from both regions to discuss the benefits realized and areas for improvement in the EVFTA’s implementation.

Following the seminar, a Meet & Greet session will provide participants with an opportunity to present their perspectives and network with others.
